Privacy on a tight lot
Sehome sits up near the university, and the lots are tight, with houses close together and property lines that matter. The two things we get called for most here are privacy: a cedar privacy fence to screen a close neighbor, and a compact back deck that makes the most of a small yard. Both come with the same wrinkle, which is that the property line and the neighbor's fence are right there.
We handle that part for you. We confirm the property line and setbacks before we set a post, and we're used to the shared-fence conversations that come up when your run sits on or near a line. On the build itself, the fundamentals don't change: fence posts set in concrete with gravel drainage so they don't lean, and a compact deck with footings below frost depth and a flashed ledger. Small doesn't mean we cut corners on the structure.

Permits and inspection
Decks over 30 inches off the ground or attached to the house need a City of Bellingham building permit and inspection. We pull the permit, handle the drawings, and meet the inspector.
Climate considerations
Tight lots and wet soil mean a leaning fence ends up in the neighbor's yard fast. We set posts in drained concrete and confirm the line before we build.
